became the proud owners of ‘The Old Castle’ (as she is known locally), after visiting Llanelli and finding it difficult to acquire suitable accommodation when the town was host to the National Eisteddffod.

At the time this wonderful building was in a very sad and neglected state, though was filled with great amounts of potential.  Bryan and Jeanie decided that it would be nice to give the ‘old girl’ a new lease of life and convert it into a modern, tastefully decorated and welcoming bed and breakfast establishment, with the goal of later  opening tea rooms.

Situated adjacent to the impressive Millennium Coast the old castle is a stone’s throw away from some of the best beaches ever to be found in Great Britain, in addition to be being a two minute walk to the vibrant town centre.

It has recently been discovered that there had once been a Norman Castle in the original Pond Twyn directly behind this former Inn, its from this we believe that the building got its name.

Further details of this can be found at the exhibition in the Park Howard Museum.

In later years the ‘Old Castle’ was a very busy pub, situated opposite the steelworks.  The works have now gone, giving way to beautifully redeveloped parkland yet the ‘Old Castle’ remains as a faithful monument to days gone by  reuniting past and present as a source of many cherished memories for the local people of Llanelli.
